8 avril 2011 - Sarlat to San Sebastián via Saint-Émilion and Dune du Pilat

VENDREDI
City workers tending the roundabout garden. Heading down my driveway to begin the journey.
Out of Sarlat and west through the Dordogne and Aquitaine.
Some Gendarme stopped at the same rest area as us near Saint-Émilion.
Saint-Émilion, a city of 2,300 located in the département of Gironde. The Roman's planted vineyards in the area. The city was named after the Eighth Century monk, Émilion. Monks that followed him started a wine production company in the area.
Ate our picnic lunch in the shade.
Dune du Pilat (also referred to Dune du Pyla) is the highest dune in Europe at 350 feet.
The Dune du Pilat is located along Arcachon Bay, south of Bordeaux.
Admiring the view. The descent.
Continuing south to Spain.
 San Sebastián (In Basque: Donostia)
While circling for parking we passed some demonstrators.
We were warmly welcomed at Pensión Bellas Artes.
Walked into town to find a place for dinner. Ended up at La Mina, a pizzeria.
