11 avril 2011 - San Sebastián to Zaragoza via Pamplona

LUNDI
Newsstand along the main drag. Enjoying another breakfast at Cafeteria Avenida XXI while reading day-old British news via The Sunday Times.
Nice stained glass at Cathedral of Buen Pastor. Plastic bag dispenser for churchgoers' umbrellas.
Walking to the parking garage with luggage, then began journey through the Basque Alpes.

Cars 110km and semis 40km along the upgrade of the Basque Mountains.
PAMPLONA. Basque flags hanging from the windows. Plaza del Castillo.
Dad standing by the running of the bulls statue. The stadium where the bull run finshes.
Reflection. A lot of wires strung on the outside of apartments.
Don't step on the grass.
Mom and Dad standing under arch that the pilgrims pass through on their pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. The scallop shells create a path through Pamplona for pilgrims on the Way of Saint James.
Picnic lunch in Plaza del Castillo.
Birds and pigeons found our crumbs appetizing. A flower planter that reminds me of an ice cream cone.
Heading south to the day's destination of Zaragoza.
Print offs about Zaragoza from Rick Steves. After a bit of circling we pull up in front of the hotel.
Looking out from the balcony window of our hotel room.
 Zaragoza.
Dinner at El Cierzo. The Real Zaragoza vs Getafe soccer game was on bar/restaurant television. Real Zaragoza won 2-1.

10 avril 2011 - San Sebastián

DIMANCHE
Around the corner from our hotel, Pension Bellas Artes, there was a bakery/cafe, Geltoki, where we had breakfast.
Crew practice along the Urumea River, which eventually empties into the Bay of Biscay.

The French band playing in a square to get people pumped for the rugby match tonight.
Lunch at Va Bene; I had a grilled ham and cheese sandwich.
About 32,000 French came to San Sebastián for the rugby quarter finals of the Heineken Cup, Biarritz vs Toulouse.
The flag hanging from the lower left balcony represents Basque solidarity with the aim to obtain their own nation.
Climbing up Monte Urgull.
Walk along the beach.
There are always fresh flowers in the room at Pensión Bellas Artes.
Dinner at Platos Combinados, where I would not return.
