1 avril 2011 - field trip, poisson d'avril, gas leak

VENDREDI
École Jules Ferry invited me to help chaperon a field trip to Parcours du Cœur, a national event sponsored by the Fédération Française de Cardiologie (French Heart Association). On Sunday, there will be activities open to all the public, but today they welcomed schools from around Sarlat to partake in various activities promoting good health and how to handle an emergency.

Chocolate fish on display at one of Sarlat's chocolateries for poisson d'avril, which is the French version of April Fool's Day and often involves taping a paper fish to someone's back.

There was commotion this afternoon, as a gas leak closed access in and out of the city via my roundabout. Gendarme stood in front of the caution tape giving cars directions to the detour.
Article in the regional newspaper, Sud Ouest, about the incident.
The Conseil Général de la Dordogne put up detour signs. Several hour later they take down the signs opening up the flow through the roundabout, as the gas leak has been situated.
