Today is national bicycle day in France and Sarlat organized an event at the public garden in celebration.

A tourist group is temporary blocked as a street cleaner truck heads down the narrow street after the market finished clearing out.

One of my colleagues invited Erica and I as well as some friends over for a barbecue. It was a beautiful, warm evening with lovely company and food.

The roundabout's new look is complete, now it is the planter's turn.

24 mai 2011 - No Lack of Attention given to Sarlat

MARDI
Time for new plants at the roundabout. 

Zooming in just beyond the roundabout, they are digging up the roadside to lay wires.
The direction of traffic is alternated, because along one lane along Avenue du Lot is open while they dig holes along the side of the road.
The digging continues along Avenue de la Canéda.
It is just after ten in the evening and it is still dusk. The square is rather lively with tourists. It feels like summer with the temperature in the 70s.

LUNDI
After teaching I take a leisure stroll through town.
The completion of the railroad renovation should be complete in just over a month. A train carrying material passes over the viaduct.

22 mai 2011 - Morning Trip to Saint-Cyprien

DIMANCHE
Catch a 7:20am bus (that replaces the train) from Sarlat to Saint-Cyprien
 Twenty minutes later, I arrive in Saint-Cyprien, a town with 1,500 people.
Clouds hang over the Dordogne countryside.
Sunday market.
Église de Saint-Cyprien built in the 13th and 14th century stands out in the panorama of the town.
Windmill-esque. May pole honoring the boss and employees of a hardware store.
On my way to the Dordogne I cross over the train tracks. A small borie or cabane en pierre sèche.
The Dordogne River.
Wait for bus back to Sarlat.
Pass through La Roque-Gageac. Arrive at Sarlat train station.
