22 octobre 2010 - off to Paris

VENDREDI
This marks the first day of a nearly two week break from school pour la Toussaint (All Saints' Day). I head off to Paris to meet up with friends before spending the rest of the vacation working at a holiday camp.
I caught a bus from the Sarlat train station to Souillac.
 Limestone cliffs and cows.
 Souillac train station from where I hopped on a train north to Paris.
The train was packed with holiday travelers.
Gare d'Austerlitz is packed due to all the canceled trains caused by the strikes.

I walked from Gare d'Austerlitz to les Invalides to meet Art and Coleen at the hotel.
Art and Coleen treated me to a nice dinner at Pizza Tina. Eiffel Tower sparkling.

21 octobre 2010 - protesting

JEUDI
The Sarlat high schoolers took over the roundabout again chanting and expressing their discontent with the rise of the retirement age.

The gasoline refinery strikes has led to gasoline shortages around parts of France. In Sarlat, there has been only a 50 euro cap put on gasoline.

MARDI
Following an afternoon of teaching at École de la Canéda, I walked to the sports complex in Sarlat where I began my first day of volunteering as a gymnastics coach.

16 octobre 2010 - Bergerac to Sarlat

SAMEDI
Walking to the train station.
The Bergerac train station, where no trains were running. The bus back to Sarlat was over an hour later from the scheduled departure time.
 The SNCF workers trying to workout the bus schedule. Finally getting on the "minging" bus.
In Bergerac they grow grapes on their roundabouts.
